No more free shipping

That's correct. Orders are no longer shipped for free. Free shipping was valid for ordersover € 65.00 (within The Netherlands), but I was doing myself (and the shop) short, that's why I don't do it anymore. I know I don't have to justify myself, but I do want to explain. Because I think it's normal to be honest.
As of today I use fixed shipping costs of € 4.95 per order (within The Netherlands - other rates are available here) and shipping is no longer free. Why? We can't avoid shipping costs when shopping online. Every order has to be shipped and to date I have paid a very large part of the shipping costs myself and did not include this in the price of the goodies. That's right, that's what most large companies do; passing on a mark-up in the selling price. So they can offer free shipping, because those shipping costs are included in the price of the product. Smart.
But this state of affairs is not for me; I want to be transparent in this. So I will not increase my prices to compensate for the shipping costs, but choose to charge one flat rate for shipping costs and no longer offer free shipping.
By the way, did you know that if you pay € 4.95 shipping costs, I have to pay 21% VAT of this to the tax authorities? That means that I receive € 4.09 shipping costs to cover the shipping costs. This doesn't cover everything, but I think it's a nice middle ground for now.
My motto is: happy customers, happy me! But of course it applies just as much the other way around. In this way we both contribute to the shipping costs and that makes me happy.
